To be honest, Denki Bran isn’t all that delicious when you actually drink it. It’s a strange kind of liquor—somewhere between Yomeishu (a medicinal tonic) and a knockoff whiskey. Yes, it tastes just like Jägermeister. If you turn it into a highball by mixing it with soda, the flavor becomes even weaker. Still, you can’t exactly visit Kamiya Bar without having Denki Bran. So, I decided to drink it straight, using a mug of draft beer as a chaser. And I’m not the only one saying this; even the Japanese Wikipedia entry mentions that Denki Bran is meant to be drunk with beer as a chaser. It definitely makes you feel like you’re in Asakusa, but either way, it’s not the kind of drink you’d want to chug down.
